The Leslies of Rothes

Based on information from Col Leslie’s books

Upon the Death of David de Leslie IX without male issue in 1439 the vast properties of the male Leslies were divided. David de Leslie left to his daughter the barony of the Garioch. She married Alexander Leslie, son of Sir Andrew Leslie, the Third Baron of Balquhain,  and their children became Leslies of Leslie, while the estates of Ballinbreich and other estates went to the branch later to become the Earls of Rothes.
