Sir John Leslie – Sixth Baron of Wardis d. 29 Nov 1640 buried at Tillyfour.
Sir John and his wife Elspet were summoned by the presbytery in Aberdeen for failing to subscribe to the covenant. On 27 Feb. they were excommunicated, then relented and were given communion. Sir John was created a Knight Baronet of Nova Scotia and a charter for the Leslie of Nova Scotia. He also got the lands of Balcomie in Fife on 30 July 1629.

The estate of Wardis was in a poor financial situation and Sir John, second baronet returned home from Germany.
He died 3 Feb 1645 and was buried in Insch, Aberdeenshire.

Second son of John, Fifth Baron of Wardis. Succeeded as third baronet after the death of Sir John, second baronet.
The baronet was allowed to go dormant, but was acquired by John Gordon of Beldorny
