Our Purpose
The primary purpose of the Leslie Global Diaspora Foundation is to identify worthwhile projects related to Leslie history and heritage. This month the Foundation has hit a “home run”.
Fetternear Info Board
First, due to generosity of supporters for the Fetternear Bishops Palace and Leslie Mansion information board
project, a new board is in place. The language was updated by Dr. Dransart and Cassandra Whittall approved and encouraged the project. Thank you to everyone involved with this project, especially the contributors, who made this project a success. We will have a dedication of this new sign summer 2026.
The Leslie Family in the Antipodes
The well-researched book by Jillian Burcher on Patrick and his brothers from the Warthill Estate who went to Australia is now submitted to the publisher. I will do a separate blog posting once the book is delivered. This publication was supported by a few extra dollars from donations from book sales. The next publication in progress is a book on the Leslies of Ireland.
Scholarship
The Foundation has worked with the University of Aberdeen to revitalize the two-week summer program on Scottish history and heritage. The Foundation suggested to the University that they move the summer session from late June to late July, which would permit the students to attend the Aboyne Highland Games and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. The Foundation is accepting enquiries about applying for a scholarship to attend this outstanding educational opportunity. Funding for this is made available through pledges from a few supporters of the Foundation. For more information refer to this blog posting:

The Challenge
While we have ongoing document digitization projects for both Ireland and Warthill Estate. We can and will do more projects. If anyone has a project worthy of consideration by the LGDF Board of Directors, please submit your project idea(s) to info@LeslieGDF.org
