The Scottish Diaspora consists of Scottish people and their descendants who emigrated from Scotland to locations around the world.

A few people have asked what is the diaspora and how does this relate to the Leslie Global Diaspora Foundation (LeslieGDF). While many countries and ethnic groups have made migrations from their home country or region to another, the Scottish Diaspora is unique. Over centuries, there have been religious (the Reformation) , economic (famine and the Clearances), political (the Ulster Plantation) to name a few conditions that prompted Scottish emigration of large numbers of people. The unique aspect of the Scottish Diaspora is that many of the Scots who left Scotland maintained practices that were consistent with their Scottish Heritage. The uniqueness of the Scottish Diaspora is that even after generations of being away from Scotland, people of Scottish ancestry embrace their Scottish heritage.

The Leslie Global Diaspora Foundation has a focus on the Scottish Leslie family and their emigration to all parts of the world. The global impact of Leslies in religion, politics, science, commerce, and the military is astounding. As a Foundation,  we embrace through researching, archiving, publishing, and sharing of information about Leslies worldwide. We seek to preserve the documents and sites that are the essential part of the Leslie legacy for future generations.  As a Foundation, we seek your support by subscribing (yes, it is free) to our website at LeslieGDF.org so that you may learn more about this important work.
