Leslie by birth and a descendant of Thomas Lesly (Lesslie) b c 1725 who emigrated from Ireland in 1765. He was accompanied by wife Jane b c 1725, John Lesslie b c 1727, his wife Mary b c 1727, 8 children between them, and Ann Lesslie. They both received 400 acres and settled in what is now Abbeville South Carolina in 1766. His children and descendants are now scattered across this country in every direction. North, South, East and West. Thomas’ son William Lesly b 1754 and his wife Ann Caldwell are 4th great grandparents. This Leslie line through my father is now 11 generations of Leslie, Lesly, Lesslie in South Carolina. Sadly my father’s Y-DNA line ended with this generation. His son who passed away in 2016 had no children. His wife’s son, whom he adopted at birth has 2 sons who carry the Leslie name but one has never married and the other has daughters. It’s left to the Cousins grandchildren to carry on the Y-DNA and Leslie name here in South Carolina.
